Background and Education:
I have worked in education for over 20 years. Reflecting back on my path as an educator, I always knew that I wanted to work with children and their families in a profession where I could help support them academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. I began my career as a teaching assistant at an early childhood education center on Long Island, New York, where I grew up. In 1998, I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from SUNY Binghamton. In 2002, I went on to earn my Masters of Science in Education degree with a certification in School Psychology from CUNY Queens College. Immediately after earning my Masters degree I moved to San Francisco, California, and worked as a certified school psychologist for 15 years in a public school district in Daly City, California. In 2020, after two years of furthering my studies, I earned my California Administrative Services Credential and worked as a Special Education Program Coordinator for 5 years in the same public school district.
Professional Experience:
I have extensive experience completing special education assessments, writing educational reports; providing Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS); consulting with teachers and administrators; developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans. Additionally, during my tenure as a leader in the special education department, I successfully implemented a new standards-based curriculum for students with moderate to severe disabilities, led professional developments, completed staff evaluations, and facilitated numerous high stakes IEP meetings. I have vast experience and a particular interest in working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). My skills and perspectives as a school psychologist and special education administrator puts me at a unique advantage to support both the student's needs as well as building up the school team's ability to meet those needs within the school setting.
Fun Facts About Me:
I am an avid snowboarder who loves traveling, cooking, and spoiling my 9 year-old Maltese named Sebastian.
